Tottenham to move for Suarez?

first_img Mario Suarez in action for Atletico Madrid Tottenham have joined Inter Milan in the race to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez this summer.Mauricio Pochettino is keen on the Spanish international but will face a fight with the Italian giants to bring him to the Premier League.Suarez was courted by the Nerazzurri in January but the Madrid youth academy graduate decided to prolong his stay with Diego Simone’s men.However, it has now been revealed by Sky Italia that a Spurs bid in the region of £6m could prise the defensive midfielder away from the Vicente Calderon.The 28-year-old’s contract is up in 2017 and the north London side are set to enter talks with him this week in a bid to thrash out a deal before the club’s pre-season fixture schedule gets underway.Suarez is said to favour a move to England and is focused on securing regular first-team football after finding himself in and out of Simone’s side last season.The arrival of Inter’s new signing, Geoffrey Kondogbia, to the San Siro is also likely to put Suarez off of moving to Italy, given both players operate in deep-lying midfield roles. 1last_img
