It is obvious that the Gunners’ frontline is missing quality of the kind Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Robin van Persie once provided, and that gap in the side will have to be filled quickly if the title dream is to become a reality. Karim Benzema, anyone? 5 4) The Gunners need a defender from the top shelf – A top-class centre-back is still needed to provide leadership to what can be a creaky defence, instil confidence and get the Gunners’ back line playing as a solid unit. The Premier League is fiercely competitive and, based on the latest results, the likes of Swansea, West Ham, Leicester and newbies Watford could cost the big teams some very valuable points in the coming months. The Chilean didn’t have much free time this summer as he competed at the Copa America, therefore he probably needs more time to regain top form. He was conspicuous by his absence before coming on from the bench against West Ham and the likes of Mesut Ozil need to contribute more when Alexis isn’t available to save the day. 5last_img
