Spain applauds Spanish Boats return to Moroccan waters

Madrid  – The Spanish government expressed its satisfaction with the return of Spanish fishermen to the Moroccan waters after a break of three years, following the renewal of the Morocco-EU fisheries agreement. At a press conference on the occasion of handing, on Friday in Algeciras, licenses for fishing boats in the province of Cadiz (southern Spain), secretary general of the Spanish agriculture ministry Andres Hermida voiced his satisfaction with the return of the Spanish fleet in the Moroccan waters. He affirmed that, once the meeting of the Morocco-EU joint committee ended and some small problems were resolved, the government handed 49 licenses to the Spanish fleet, while the delivery of other licenses is still pending due to some administrative issues. The Spanish official noted that Andalusia is the region that has the greatest number of ships concerned by the agreement, adding that ships that already got their authorizations will undergo a technical inspection by Morocco before starting their activities.
